Charity of the year

Each year the staff at AES Global come together to choose a local charity to support for the year.

In 2019 we supported the Charis Cancer centre who do amazing work to support men and women affected by cancer at every stage of their journey. They also assist and support the families and supporters of those living with cancer or any family member bereaved by cancer. Throughout 2019 we raised £3842 for the charity through a range of different fundraising initiatives.

In 2020 we have decided to support Air Ambulance NI. AANI in partnership with the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), provides the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the region. Serious or life-threatening situations can happen to anyone at any time and on average, every single day in Northern Ireland, one individual finds themselves in desperate need of AANI. Each day costs in the region of £5,500 and £2m is needed each year to keep the air ambulance service operational. AANI rely entirely on support from the public and local businesses so we are keen to do what we can to support this great charity.

So far, we have been raising money through days like our weekly dress down Fridays and a tasty pancake Tuesday. But we also had 3 members of staff took part in an abseil last February. Beata, Niall and James went to new heights to help raise funds for AANI by abseiling down the tower museum in Derry/LondonDerry. Accounts Manager Alison has also been going to great heights to raise some funds for AANI by taking part in a 3 peaks challenge! So far, she has climbed Slemish, Slieve Donard and will some be doing the stair way to heaven walk in Fermanagh all to raise money for AANI!

Supporting amazing local charities like Charis and AANI means a lot to us at AES so we will continue to raise what we can to help
